Ex-KHS principal arrested

Police arrested yesterday former Kagman High School principal Doreen Tudela for allegedly stealing the school's sale of pizzas worth over $36,000.

Assistant attorney general Mike Nisperos said police served the arrest warrant on Tudela late afternoon yesterday.

Nisperos said Tudela was charged with grand theft in excess of $20,000, an offense that makes the defendant eligible for 10 years in prison.

The Superior Court imposed a $10,000 cash bail for the defendant's temporary liberty. A bail hearing is expected to be held today.

Tudela is currently the Public School System curriculum and instructions officer.

Nisperos said that whenever Pizza Hut wants to sell pizzas on campus at Kagman High School, the establishment has to pay for that privilege. Pizza Hut usually pays about $2,500 to $3,000 a month and the money goes into a fund for student activities.

Nisperos said Tudela, as then principal of Kagman High School, created the bank account and deposited the money there. She then allegedly withdrew the money for her own use.

LCPS teacher may face animal cruelty charge

A Las Cruces public school teacher may face numerous charges for animal cruelty after Doña Ana County Sheriff's investigators seized 125 animals from his home Thursday.

According to sheriff's department spokesman Bo Nevarez, deputies and animal control officers worked until midnight to remove an assortment of animals from the home of Jack Catlan.

Catlan works as a speech pathologist at Picacho Middle School, he said.

"One kitten died en route to the animal shelter," Nevarez said. "The animals recovered are now considered evidence and have been placed in the care of the animal shelter."

Investigators removed 33 dogs, 59 cats, 25 chickens, five ducks, two goats and a rooster in the round up.

Charges filed against Teaneck teacher

A grand jury handed up a 20-count indictment today against an award-winning Teaneck middle school teacher accused of having sex with one of his students.

James Darden, a popular teacher at Thomas Jefferson Middle School, was also indicted on charges of kissing an eighth-grade student in his classroom.

Darden was arrested June 1 and charged with having a sexual relationship with an eighth-grader while she was between 13 and 15. The accuser, who is now 21, told authorities that Darden had sex with her in his classroom, in the men's faculty bathroom, in the dean's office, in his car and at his former home in Plainfield

Cocaine use costs teacher her license

I want to prove that I am better than that one instance shows,” substitute teacher Joan M. Donatelli said shortly after she was sentenced Wednesday for using cocaine in a Lewiston-Porter classroom.

Donatelli, 59, of Thornwood Drive, will not spend time in jail but must surrender her state teaching license, said Town Justice Thomas J. Sheeran. She could have faced up to 60 days in jail for misdemeanor attempted criminal use of a controlled substance. She accepted the reduced plea April 18.

“I got carried away,” she said in court. “I was blind — almost imprisoned [by the drugs]. Something good has come out of this. I am recovering.”

Donatelli, who retired after 34 years as a district elementary school teacher, was working as a substitute Feb. 1 when two fourth-grade girls sitting near her desk saw her use a pen cap to snort cocaine from a plastic bag.

Teacher Charged with Assault

A teacher in Lackawanna County has been charged with assaulting a child who has autism.

Jane Forgione, 61, of Dunmore is accused of punching an autistic boy in the back at the Northeast Intermediate Unit.

Investigators said witnesses saw Forgione punch the child in the back and stand on his feet to restrain him. Forgione is free on bail.

Forgione received the 2006 Teacher of the Year away from the autism support group Parents Loving Children Through Autism.

Teacher, students allegedly smoke pot

A Goleta Valley Junior High School teacher is facing charges for allegedly smoking marijuana with two students.

Melissa Dunning, 31, was charged Wednesday with two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and one count of furnishing marijuana. She faces arraignment July 3.

The parents of a 14-year-old student at the school told sheriff's deputies on May 31 that they suspected their son and the teacher had been smoking pot, Sgt. Erik Raney said. Dunning had tutored the boy at her home.

I'm the Ice Cream Man ...

This charming character, Douglas Jones, is an ice cream truck driver in Aurora, Illinois. More to the point for this blog, he is a member of the Kane County Regional School Board, and a substitute teacher. Jones, who holds a Masters of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary, was accused of indecent exposure after the father of a toddler coming up to his ice cream truck saw him exposing himself in the truck. Teacher, 54, charged with having sex with boy, 14

A 54-year-old Washington County teacher accused of having sex with a 14-year-old boy who attended one of her classes has been charged with second-degree rape and second-degree sodomy, authorities said today.

Officers arrested Charlene Schmitz of Carson Road in Leroy on Friday after the boy's mother approached authorities with a stack of sexually explicit e-mails she claimed the Leroy High School teacher sent to her son, said Washington County Sheriff Richard Stringer.

"We questioned witnesses, and the boy confessed to what was going on," Stringer said. "He said it had been happening since April, mostly at her residence."

Former Wythe County teacher sent to prison for molesting two students

A former teacher will serve nearly four years in prison for molesting two of her students.

Karen Susan Patton was sentenced today in Wythe County court.

After she serves three years and eleven months of prison time, Patton will be on probation for five more years.

In March, she plead no contest to charges stemming from sexual relationships with two former students at Scott Memorial Middle School.

Nepal teacher force-feeds dung to truant students

A teacher forced over 80 students in Nepal to eat dung because they had not done their homework, media reports said.

Exasperated by students repeatedly not turning in their homework, the teacher warned her third and fourth-grade students at Janajyoti School in Lung village in Pyuthan district that she would make them eat cow dung if they continued to play truant.

Last week, when the children still did not mend their ways, the enraged teacher forced 82 students to eat dung, Nepal's local media said.

Lake Tahoe-area teacher accused of having sex with student

A teacher at a Lake Tahoe-area private school is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday on charges that she engaged in a sexual relationship with a male student.

Christine Johnson, 28, was booked May 13 at the Nevada County Jail in Truckee on suspicion of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

She was a history teacher at Squaw Valley Academy, a private boarding school with nearly 100 middle and high school students, located in Olympic Valley just north of Lake Tahoe.

Johnson had been scheduled to be arraigned this past Tuesday, but did not show up.

Hours before jury selection was to begin in his molestation trial, a former day care teacher pleaded guilty Friday morning to fondling several pre-kindergarten girls while they slept in his classroom.

Child porn charged to ex-teacher

A Little Egg Harbor woman who was considered a model teacher has been indicted on a charge of first-degree aggravated sexual assault on a child and on other counts related to the production and distribution of child pornography over the Internet.

Cecelia A. Schneider, 53, of Center Street is charged with assaulting a 2-year-old boy in 2002 in the indictment handed up by an Ocean County grand jury Wednesday.

Schneider also is charged with production and distribution of child pornography by participating in sexual acts to be recorded and displayed on the Internet, the indictment says.

KHS teacher suspended over sex allegations

A popular Kearny High School English teacher has been suspended with pay, after school officials say a student told them he had some sort of sexual encounter with the teacher, Superintendent of Schools Robert Mooney said.

Celeste Adamski, 27 — whose maiden name is Passos — has taught at the high school for three years, but won’t get to see the school year out after the allegations prompted her immediate suspension. Mooney says the suspension in no way reflects assumption of guilt, but allows for school and police officials to properly investigate the matter without interference.

“We wouldn’t suspend unless there was a confirmed allegation,” Mooney said. “And in this case, there was.”

Because there is an ongoing investigation, Mooney could only say that the allegation was made by a student at Kearny High School, and that the allegation is “serious” in nature.

Rumors apparently began circulating at Kearny High School early last week about Mrs. Adamski’s possible downfall, according to a student at Kearny High, who like most students interviewed for this story, asked not to be identified by name.

Gary Gym Teacher Accused Of Molesting Student

A Tolleston Middle School physical education teacher accused of fondling a seventh-grade special education student was hiding in his basement Wednesday when police arrived to arrest him, Detective Cpl. Nelson Otano said.

John J. Wachel, 48, of Hammond was charged with sexual misconduct with a minor based on the girl's account, which was supported by a witness. Otano said the witness saw the coach grab the girl's buttocks while he looked at her chest and said, "I want some of that."

Crossing Guard Faces 1,000 Sex Charges

A school crossing guard accused of molesting seven children was charged with more than 1,000 counts of sexual assault.

Dale Hutchings was arrested Tuesday and charged with 305 counts of raping a child, 356 counts of aggravated indecent assault against a child under 13, and 356 counts of indecent assault against a child under 13.

The assaults took place between 1998 and 2007, and all of the victims were under 13 when the attacks began, police said.

Hutchings, of Berwick, worked as a crossing guard near Orange Street Elementary School. He also worked for the Berwick Area Ambulance Association and was a high school band booster.

Teacher's Aide Pleads Guilty to Sexual Conduct with Minor

A teacher's aide has plead guilty to attempted sexual conduct with a minor.

Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas says that 27-year-old Alma Hernandez met her 14-year-old male victim on the playground at Andalucia Middle School, then had sex with the boy in her car last year.

Police were called after the victim's family found out.

As part of a plea agreement, Hernandez will be sentenced to at least 10 years in prison on July 25.

Hernandez was a teacher's assistant at the school at 47th Avenue and Campbell, but the boy was not one of her students.

A former elementary school teacher who was arrested five times over a two-year period was sentenced to probation Monday in Grand Junction.

According to the Daily Sentinel, Tammie Lee Reed was given four years probation, 21 months of work release, 100 hours of community service and must undergo mandatory drug treatment. The sentence is part of a plea agreement in which several felony counts were dismissed.

A 40-year-old high school science teacher and cross country coach has resigned his position and married a 16-year-old student.

Brenton Wuchae coached Windy Hager at South Brunswick High School, where she recently completed her sophomore year as one of the school's top runners. He also lives less than two miles away from the Hagers' home on Oak Island.

Wuchae married Hager in Brunswick County on Monday, according to a marriage license.

Hager's parents, Dennis and Betty Hager, said they did all they could to keep the couple apart after noticing a deeper-than-usual friendship forming between them. The parents said they tried to intervene by talking to the coach, going to school officials, pleading with police and sheriff's office detectives, even other teachers and students at South Brunswick.

But the Hagers say they reluctantly signed a consent form allowing their daughter to marry her coach.

An Elizabeth High School teacher accused of having sex with a 17-year-old student during a football road trip last fall faces a preliminary hearing this afternoon in Garfield County District Court.

Darcie Esson, 33, who remains free on $25,000 bond, is charged with two counts of sexual assault on a person age 15 to 17 while in a position of trust and one count of sexual assault in a position of trust as a pattern of abuse.

Esson, an English teacher, was placed on administrative leave from the Elizabeth C-1 School District, where officials called authorities after learning that a football player had been bragging about having sex with her.

Cops Investigate Substitute Teacher Allegedly Having Sex With Daughter's Boyfriend

A female substitute teacher who taught in a Wisconsin school district has been fired and is under investigation for an alleged sexual relationship with her daughter's 13-year-old boyfriend, FOXNews.com has learned.

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department is investigating allegations that the 38-year-old Prescott School District substitute teacher had sex with the seventh grader, Lt. Dennis Sorenson said.

The investigation began after the student’s father filed a civil restraining order on behalf of his son against the woman following an incident that allegedly took place on May 17, said Sorenson, who is in charge of the investigation for Pierce County.

That evening, the father said he found the two having a “middle of the night rendezvous” together at the teacher’s home after the boy stole his mother’s car, WCCO-TV reported. The woman’s husband and 13-year-old daughter were home at the time, the station said.

Normally, it seems, when a female teacher is caught with a male student, the penalty is not harsh. Jeri Deanne Perez, of Phoenix, was not so lucky. Ms. Perez, who was arrested in January and charged with three felony counts for engaging in sexual activity with a 14 year old, has been sentenced to ten years in prison, and lifetime probation. Teacher charged in bugging incident

A science teacher at Flushing Junior High School will face criminal charges for allegedly bugging another teacher's classroom.

The teacher, 44, was charged Thursday with one count of attempted eavesdropping, a misdemeanor that carries a maximum penalty of a year in jail and a $1,000 fine.

A police investigation alleged the science teacher went into the school after hours to plant the device.

There had been allegations of problems involving the science teacher's daughter and class disruptions.

Teacher accused of taking payoffs from students

A public school teacher has been suspended with pay while Hartford school officials investigate allegations that she took cash to excuse students from detention.

School officials have not released the name of the teacher who works at Quirk Middle School. She was placed on a paid leave of absence after the school district received complaints from parents.

"The district is taking these charges seriously and is currently conducting an investigation into the matter," Terry D'Italia, a school system spokesman said Thursday.

One parent who made a complaint said that the teacher took $30 or $40 from her son.

Fairfield Teacher Faces Pot Charges

Kenneth George Neubert, 34, of Vacaville faces a felony charge of furnishing marijuana to a minor and a misdemeanor charge of possessing marijuana on school grounds.

His next court appearance is scheduled for July 2.

Fairfield Police arrested Neubert after he allegedly left campus in his car with two 17-year-old senior boys Monday. Police said they stopped at a nearby Starbucks Coffee shop, then while returning to school, smoked marijuana.

The mother of one of the boys spotted her son in the teacher's car and followed them back to the campus. When she confronted her son, police said he told his mother they had been smoking marijuana with Neubert.

Work Release

Teacher sentenced to work release in student sex case

A former teacher at a treatment center for troubled youth was sentenced today in Jefferson County to four months of work release and 10 years probation for having sex with a 16-year-old student.

Michelle Leigh Tolar, 26, of Denver, was arrested July 26, 2006, and charged with one count of sexual assault on a child by someone in a position of trust and one count of sexual assault. She was released on bond the next day.

Tolar, who has been undergoing therapy, said at her sentencing that she has spent most of her life running away from reality.

"I realize I did him harm and would like to go on record apologizing," she said.

She said she still cared about her victim.

Catholic School teacher Duane Champagne is charged with taking innapropriate pictures of little girls at a Waterpark. A parent caught onto his nasty habit and the police were soon to follow. Duane apparently told detectives he liked to use his computer skills to make it appear that the young girls were wrestling, which he viewed for sexual pleasure. Read more Here.

Teacher charged with rape, sodomy

A Norman North High School science teacher who also coached girls’ basketball was formerly charged Wednesday in connection with an alleged sexual relationship with a 16-year-old female student in April and May.

Vicky Lynn Lewallen, 44, Norman, was charged with two counts of forcible sodomy and two counts of first-degree rape.

Lewallen was arraigned Wednesday morning and released on personal recognizance bond by Special District Judge Rod Ring.

“The charges stemmed from allegations from the victim in the case disclosing the relationship and information we had regarding them being caught in the act at school and the investigation that followed,” said Cleveland County District Attorney Greg Mashburn.

According to court documents, the 16-year-old student, when interviewed, told forensic investigators the two had engaged in sexual acts in the bedroom of her home, the bedroom and other areas of the teacher’s home and in the classroom. School officials reported catching the pair in Lewallen’s classroom the morning of May 4, by themselves, with the lights off and the door locked. Another teacher reported seeing Lewallen and the girl “spending an unusual amount of time together” during overtime and lunch periods.

China: Teacher Sentenced to Death for Raping Schoolgirls

A teacher in Changhe Township, in northwestern Dingxi City, has been sentenced to death for raping 18 third- and fourth-grade girls, the state news media reported. In 2005, another teacher in Changhe was sentenced to death for raping 23 fourth- and fifth-grade students, the Xinhua News Agency said. It said local officials would not say if the teachers were at the same school.

Brian Hunter Zickefoose, a teacher in North Carolina, has been charged with 5 counts of possession with intent to sell cocaine. Zickefoose was arrested after a brief foot chase. Ironically, Zickefoose was a physical education teacher. Zickefoose's father is an assistant superintendent in the district which was about to hire him.

Anthony Giancola, a Tampa middle school principal, has resigned after being caught purchasing crack at his school. He'll do 364 days in the county jail, and must surrender his teaching certificate. The 40 year old Giancola faced as much as 21 years on three charges. Details here.

Ex-Coach Says No Deal To Sex Charges

Jared P Bromley, 26, of Hartford, formerly a fifth grade teacher and varsity basketball coach at Fort Ann Central School, has been charged with second degree sexual abuse and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, all misdemeanors, for allegedly allowing two 13-year-old boys to fondle themselves in front of him in various instances since December 2005. There were no allegations that he had had any sexual contact with them.

Martial Arts teacher Brian Tiller was arrested for Criminal Sexual Conduct with a minor. Apparently while on a trip to a karate tournament Mr. Tiller tried to educate his young apprentice in more than he should have. Student breaks arm after his legs duct taped by teacher

Parents and students are furious over a teacher, accused of duct-taping a student on Long Island.

Police arrested the teacher after the taped up boy fell and broke his arm. Parents in Setauket are upset and say the gym teacher went way too far.

Suffolk County police say 52-year-old Matthew Foster is charged with assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

Police say Foster duct taped the student's knee in a locker room and the boy ended up hobbling into the gym breaking his arms.

"It was unacceptable. He took some duct tape and warped the kid's legs up, apparently, because this kid was late for a class," said Lt. Michael Murphy from Suffolk County police. "We don't really know exactly what was going on in his mind."

45 Days In The Slammer

29 year old Carrie McCandless pled guilty to felonies that occured on a school field trip. She has now been sentenced to a whopping 45 days in jail.

During the trip McCandless apparently engaged in some sexual activity with a 17 year old student, as well as bringing and sharing alcohol. There was also a evidence tampering charge stemming from a phone call made to the 'victim' while the investigation was ongoing. You can read more about that and see an even better picture here.

Chicagoland driver's ed teacher George Langlotz is accused of taking a 17 year old female student for a ride ... back to his place. According to investigators, Langlotz was tutoring the student, and took her back to his house. Reports do not specify the subject of the tutoring, but it has resulted in his being charged with a felony. Details here.

Ex-principal indicted in sex coverup

Dwight Bernard, former principal of Miami West High School, has been indicted in a sex coverup case. Bernard is charged with two felonies, for covering up for a football player who was seducing an underage classmate. The grand jury's report said, ''The road to glory was paved for all . . . all except that little girl who was viewed as little more than a bump in the road to the school's state football championship."

Lynn Tallento, a high school business teacher from Rochester, New York, has been accused of stealing $750,000 from two elderly women. According to reports, she befriended the women, and persuaded them to give her large amounts of money. A neighbor wasn't surprised, saying it appeared she was living far beyond her means. Troy Michael Bernard, of Le Sueur County, Louisiana, is accused of having a sexual relationship with a girl which started when she was 14, and he was her volleyball coach. Her mother was aware of the relationship, but had told her daughter to cut it off. Bernard admitted that he had the relationship, and that he didn't always use a condom. Story is here.

Joel Vincent Hurley, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, must be a very busy man. He works (worked?) as a teacher's assistant in the local schools, and also worked part-time for the county parks and recreation department. And with all that, he allegedly still found time to molest at least two girls. One of them claimed they were having sex on the campus of a local middle school. Now that is gettin' busy! School worker accused of raping woman

A 64-year-old paraprofessional at Biscayne Gardens Elementary School has been charged with threatening, kidnapping and raping a woman, Miami-Dade police said.

Richard Jerome Campbell, a 41-year school employee who works with handicapped children, attacked the woman ''while she was incapacitated,'' according to a police report. Police did not explain how the woman was ``incapacitated.''

Arrested Sunday, Campbell was charged with sexual battery of an incapacitated person, armed kidnapping and tampering with a victim.

He was denied bond Monday.

The arrest was his first in Miami-Dade County.

According to an arrest report, the alleged incident happened late May 30 through early the next day.

As he attacked the woman, the report said, Campbell ``prevented [her] from calling police by knocking the phone out of her hand.''

Aide indicted for groping

A teacher's aide in Mesa, Arizona, has been indicted for groping a 15 year old student. Kyle Hite, a former semi-professional football player, is accused of touching the breast of a 15 year old special ed student. The girl said she thought it was an accident at first. Then it happened again. And again. And so forth.

According to another report, Hite had a prior arrest record, which was overlooked in the district's background check due to "human error."

Teacher Accused Of Viewing Porn In Class

The Edgewood school district in Ohio is sending letters home to every parent who had a child in Chris Beiser's classroom after the teacher abruptly resigned.

Beiser taught first grade at Bloomfield Elementary School up until late last week.

District officials said that they had reason to believe that Beiser was viewing porn on his school-issued laptop during class time. They said he resigned after refusing to answer questions.

In a written statement, the district said, "While assisting a class at Bloomfield Elementary, it was discovered that inappropriate images were being viewed from Mr. Chris Beiser's computer. On the morning of Tuesday, May 29th using the Remote Desktop software, the technology department observed Mr. Chris Beiser, a first grade teacher at Bloomfield Elementary, viewing pornographic images on his computer in his classroom during class time."

Teacher Grabbed Boy By Throat, Officials Say

A Rocklin teacher is being accused of assault after he allegedly attacked a student at Whitney High School last Friday, police said.

Authorities said that John Bosco grabbed a 15-year-old student by the throat and flipped the boy over a chair.

The confrontation may have been triggered by a comment that the student made about Bosco's daughter, investigators said.

Local HS Teacher Accused Of Selling Drugs

State police arrested a Washington County high school teacher for allegedly selling drugs in the parking lot of local fast food restaurant.

Bethlehem-Center High School teacher Shawn Bellicini, 32, of Fallowfield Township, is accused of selling more than $600 worth of the powerful painkiller oxycontin to an undercover informant yesterday afternoon in a Burger King parking lot in Bentleyville.

According to state police, Bellicini sold 10 of the pills to an informant for $620 while a trooper watched the entire transaction.

Former principal accused of embezzling

A former high school principal from Chicagoland has been arrested for embezzling more than $10,000 from an educational support business for which he served as COO. Emmanuel “Manny” Reyes and two co-workers stole from the company's checking account over a nine month period. Reyes remains in jail on $300,000 bond.

Teacher busted using heroin in classroom

George Terry McDonald, Jr., a 50 year old art teacher in Charlotte, has been charged with possession of heroin and drug paraphenalia. Authorities report that McDonald abruptly cancelled class, and was caught in the act of shooting up.

Brandy Reynolds, a 24 year old woman from Omaha, has been accused of a two year sexual relationship with a 15 year old student. Reynolds was a teacher at Omaha Baptist Academy until May, 2006.

Joseph Tucker, a 28 year old band teacher from St. Paul, Minnesota, is accused of a sexual affair with a 17 year old student. According to the student, the consensual affair started last year, when they worked together on a school musical. Evidence includes text messages from Tucker, and a letter describing explicit sexual acts.

New York teachers busted for weekend sex party

These lovely ladies are in the custody of the State of New York, accused of a weekend sex romp with two sixteen year old boys from a school and group home for troubled children. Teacher's aide Maria Zurita (top photo) and her boss, teacher Rebecca Becker, were busted after the kids were reported missing.

It has been rough times in Las Vegas schools as the year draws to an end. The latest: 21 year old Thomas Gaff, who works as a choral accompaniest, has been charged with sexual misconduct with a student.



Previously, 51 year old Don Smith was arrested for lewness with a minor under 14.

And to top it off, three coaches are under investigation for misconduct with students. Sin city, indeed.

This gal, a bookkeeper for Tapp Middle School in Cobb County, Georgia, is accused of stealing $4,500 from a middle school "biscuit fundraiser." The money was going to be used for a field trip to the Georgia Aquarium but the trip was canceled after the money disappeared. She is also suspected of stealing money from the Critter Club. Three ladies are in the news today for alleged sexual misconduct:

1. Carrie Ann Bishop, 33, of Chesapeake, Virginia, is accused of having consensual sexual encounters over a three month period, with a 17 year old student. Story here.





2. Kelli Jo Camp, a 28 year old substitute teacher in Santa Barbara, California, is also accused of consensual sex with a 17 year old. According to school administrators, she was "very close to her male students." Details here.





3. Janet Susan Gallager Parker, a 28 year old former 8th grade teacher, was arrested "after school officials discovered photographs of the woman, partially-nude and draped in a rebel flag, on a student's cell phone." Details here and here.

Poor Guy!

A New Jersey teacher has been accused of an ongoing sexual relationship with an underage student. James Darden, of Teaneck, New Jersey, was a popular teacher who received a $25,000 educator's award in 2005.

Although he is paid more than $62,000 a year in his position as a middle school teacher, he showed up to court without an attorney, and told the judge he couldn't afford one. With that kind of income, he'd have to have more than one BMW to be as broke as he claims.
