Substitute Teacher Accused Of Drug Factory In Home
Police Seize Marijuana, Ecstasy Pills

POSTED: 10:42 am EDT May 25, 2006

A substitute teacher is accused of having a drug factory in his Dearborn home.

Police seized 18 pounds of marijuana and 153 Ecstasy pills at the Curtis Street home of Jehad Hassan Dakroub (pictured) when they executed a search warrant Tuesday, according to police.

Dakroub, 26, was arraigned Wednesday in 19th District Court on two felony charges. The charges include possession with intent to deliver marijuana, a seven-year felony; and possession with intent to deliver Ecstasy, a 20-year felony, police said.

A cash bond for Dakroub was set at $150,000 and he must also surrender his passport, police said. A preliminary examination was scheduled for June 2.

Dakroub is a substitute teacher in the Dearborn Public Schools and coaches the junior varsity tennis team at Fordson High School, Local 4 reported. Police are investigating whether Dakroub ever distributed drugs to students, Local 4 reported.

"This man was entrusted with molding the minds of children each day. It's especially abhorrent to find that a teacher would be charged with having a virtual drug factory in his home. We warn our children about the dangers of drugs all the time. This is exactly what we tell our children to guard against," said Wayne County prosecutor Kym L. Worthy.

A second suspect -- whose name was not released -- was also arrested Tuesday, but no charges were filed, according to police.
