Teacher put on leave in boy-sex case

The Silverado Middle School teacher accused of having sex with a former student has been placed on administrative leave, officials said Monday.

Kelly Christine Spaich, 28, was arrested Friday after allegedly having sex with a 16-year-old boy who used to attend Silverado, where Spaich has been teaching eighth-grade language arts and social studies.

She faces charges of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, cruelty to a minor, molesting a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, police said.
