No felony charge against teacher in school gun case

A teacher who allegedly let her son bring a loaded pistol to school is no longer facing felony charges, court papers show.

The charges were dropped, but Linnea C. Holdren, 45, still faces several misdemeanor charges, including reckless endangerment and corruption of a minor. Police say her 11-year-old son twice brought a .22-caliber pistol to school in November 2005.

The boy was expelled from the school in Shickshinny, where Holdren worked as a special education teacher. She has been on paid leave since her arrest. A felony conviction might have blocked her from returning to her job, according to her lawyer, Michael Butera.

The boy showed the gun to students in a school bathroom one day and later carried the weapon and 50 rounds of ammunition on him at school, officials charged.

Police: teacher stole from school, put the goods on E-Bay

ENDICOTT, N.Y. An upstate school teacher was arrested today, accused of stealing instructional materials from her school and putting the stolen items for sale on the E-Bay Internet auction site.

Authorities say Jo-Ann Peters apparently had been stealing items from the L-W West School in the Union-Endicott School District for several months.

State police executed a search warrant at the teacher's town of Owego home this morning and found a large quantity of things from the school.

An investigator said police discovered instructional materials, a computer and a camera in the residence. He said the stolen property was valued at more than a thousand dollars.

NY Teacher Accused of Sex With Student

Twenty-three-year-old Emily Streb was arraigned yesterday in charges of having an affair with her 16-year-old special ed student who suffers from depression and other problems. Streb was the 16-year-old's music teacher and allegedly had sex with him multiple times.

Emily has an internet history that with creative googling will bring up a host of information, but at the moment I am undecided if I am willing to share that kind of information on this blog. The exception being myspace accounts, but as hers is private, theres really no need.
