Albany teacher jailed after ex-student reports same-sex affair

Police arrested an 8th grade science teacher after a former student told authorities she had a sexual relationship with the female instructor for more than three years during the early 1990s, authorities said.

Kay Lynnette Sorg, 54, of Oakland, was arrested Tuesday following a six-month investigation into the allegations made by her former student at Albany Middle School, according to Sgt. Tom Dolter.

The former student claimed she was 14 when the relationship started in December 1990 and it lasted until August 1994, Sorg said.

Sorg remained jailed Wednesday at Santa Rita Jail in Dublin on 13 felony charges, including lewd and lascivious acts on a child, oral copulation with a minor and sexual penetration with a minor. Her bail was set at $150,000.

3rd-Grade Teacher Faces Child Porn Charges

A third-grade teacher at Oakland Park Elementary was arrested Monday, accused of owning, distributing and promoting child pornography on the Internet.

Michael A. Postma was arrested at his residence after authorities obtained a federal search warrant for his property and discovered pornographic photographs of a child on his computer hard drive, Plantation police said.

According to police, an undercover detective in Keene, N.H., had been posing online as a 14-year-old boy and conversing online with Postma, 29, since December.
