Substitute Teacher Arrested In Hartford

A substitute teacher at Weaver High School has been arrested after getting into a fight with a female student.

Hartford police arrested Benjamin Blake, 61, of Kent Street on Tuesday and charged him with breach of peace in the second degree in connection with an altercation with a 17-year-old student.

Police said that around 8:30 AM, the school resource officer saw Blake fighting with the student. Blake allegedly picked her up and slammed her to the floor.

The resource officer and a security guard broke up the fight and the student was not injured.

Northport teacher faces sex abuse charges

Police arrested a substitute teacher at Northport High School for engaging in sexual contact with a 16-year-old girl he befriended in class.

Thomas Baudier, 22, of 26 Valley Road, Northport, was charged with third-degree sexual abuse endangering the welfare of a child after his arrest Monday night. He was held overnight at the Seventh Precinct and was scheduled for arraignment Tuesday at First District Court in Central Islip.

Teacher, 21, accused of sex with student, 14

A 21-year-old substitute teacher from the Dunklin School District was charged Friday with having sex with a 14-year-old male student, whom she knew for years as a friend of her brother.

The Jefferson County prosecuting attorney charged Teresa Engelbach of Pevely with three counts of statutory rape and one count of statutory sodomy following an investigation by the Jefferson County sheriff's office.
