Teacher's aide charged with manslaughter
An arrest has been made in the death of a 19-month-old Glen Allan child who died last week as the result of being left on a Mississippi Christian Family Service transportation van for more than seven hours.
Mirenda Frazier, 30, of 306 Martin Luther King Drive, Hollandale, was arrested Monday afternoon and charged with manslaughter by culpable negligence.
The legal definition of manslaughter by culpable negligence, used in both civil and criminal suits, is, according to Oran's Dictionary of Law, “the failure to exercise a reasonable amount of care in a situation that causes harm to someone.” The charge carries a sentence of up to 20 years in prison.
