You would think that in a world where teachers are busted for sexual misconduct almost daily, such a thing as this would never happen: In Mascoutah, Illinois, a suburb of St. Louis, an eighth grade girl was given two days of detention for hugging friends goodbye after school. She had been previously notified of this policy when she was caught hugging a student at a football game. The superintendent said that the zero tolerance policy "helps prevent misunderstandings and unwelcome expressions of affection."
There's no suggestion that this was any sort of sexual conduct. There's no allegation that the greeting was unwelcome. Are these people insane?
Story is here.
