Electric Saw, Box Cutters, and Dismemberment...

Retired I.E. teacher argues to Vegas judge: No case without body

A retired Ontario High School math teacher accused of killing and dismembering his wife has asked a judge to dismiss all charges against him.
In a petition filed in court in Las Vegas last week, the lawyer for John Matthias Watson claims prosecutors not only lack evidence to show Watson murdered his wife of 20 years, but can't even prove the still-missing woman is even dead.

"The body of Everilda Watson, if indeed she is dead, has never been found," Deputy Public Defender Edward Kane says in court documents.

Watson is charged in Las Vegas with murder, robbery and kidnapping in connection with the July disappearance of Everilda Watson, 50.

The woman disappeared during a Las Vegas vacation with her husband.

Prosecutors say they have evidence that shows Watson shot the woman, dismembered her body with an electric saw and a box cutter and then disposed of her remains.

They are seeking the death penalty for Watson, who remains in the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas.

Watson has denied killing his wife. He did, however, tell his children that the woman killed herself and that he disposed of her body because he feared police would accuse him of harming her.
