De. Teacher sentenced for student sex

A sixth-grade science teacher who was accused of having sex with a 13-year-old student has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Rachel L. Holt, 35, had pleaded guilty to second-degree rape. She sobbed in court Friday as Superior Court Judge Calvin L. Scott gave her the mandatory minimum sentence.

Prosecutors had wanted Scott to sentence Holt to the maximum of 25 years.

Holt was initially charged with 28 counts of first-degree rape.

The teen claims it was a month long affair.

The boy claims it was consensual, that it happened six times, beginning last November at the teacher's Gilbert home

Two Women Accused This Week of Sleeping with Underage Male Teens

Reports of two New York women charged with having sex with their students may be the latest in a wave of cases in which female teachers are accused of sexually molesting young boys.

Marcia Amsterdam, 30, a speech teacher at a Brooklyn junior high school is accused of having sex with a 13-year-old boy.

Emily Streb, 23, is a music teacher at a Bronx special education school charged with rape for allegedly having sex with a 16-year-old boy who suffered from psychiatric problems.

Last week, Allena Ward, a 23-year-old teacher in South Carolina, was charged with having sex with five teenage boys on school property, in a park and at a motel.

Parents say teacher's sex lesson was too explicit

A health teacher [7-year-old teacher, Scott Groff] made 8th graders read aloud explicit questions about oral sex and masturbation during a sex-education lesson at a suburban school this week, outraging parents who demanded the teacher be disciplined.


Apparently it wasn't just parents being uptight like they can be sometimes:

My daughter brought it to our attention because she was disgusted with it,” said Grady Braley, father of a Wolcott 14-year-old. “There’s certain things at her age they need to know. But this was a how-to manual.”

Jonathan Stacks, campaign manager for Illinois Campaign for Responsible Sex Education, gasped when he heard the details of the “frequently asked questions” read aloud in the 8th grade class.
