Former HS teacher convicted in sex assaults

A Tarrant County jury on Wednesday convicted a forrmer high school teacher and Methodist youth director of nine counts of sexual assault of a child and one count of having an improper relationship with a student.

The punishment phase in the trial of Jason Scott Wamsley, 32, a former teacher at Castleberry High School, begins later this afternoon.

In testimony Tuesday, an 18-year-old college student tearfully testified about an intense sexual affair she said she had with Mr. Wamsley beginning in 2003 when she was a high school freshman.

The relationship, she said, lasted until 2004, when her father caught them in bed.
