Substitute teacher charged

A substitute teacher in the Rock Hills Schools was arrested over the weekend and charged with assault on two high school girls.

Theodore Samuel Thornburg, 44, was charged Monday with aggravated assault and assault and battery. He had been working as a substitute at South Pointe High School in Rock Hill. The alleged incidents happened last week.

According to the Rock Hill Herald newspaper, one girl complained to school authorities that the teacher had touched her on the breast, and the other said the same teacher had slapped her on the rear end. Thornburg, who was released on bail Monday morning, could not be reached for comment.
