3rd Graders

Bail Set For Teacher Accused Of Child Sex Abuse

Bail is set for a former third-grade teacher who is charged with molesting eight students at Tooele's East Elementary.

On Tuesday, a judge set bail at $200,000.

Christopher Burton, 25, was charged Monday with eight counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child for allegedly touching eight students in his third grade class inappropriately.

Aggravated sexual abuse of a child is a first-degree felony. If convicted, Burton could spend the rest of his life in prison.

A complaint filed in the case alleges eight separate victims and states that Burton sat the children on his lap and then put his hands in the pockets of their clothes to rub their bodies.
